VAUXHALL UNLEASHES CORSA GSE VISION GRAN TURISMO CONCEPT CAR

Vauxhall has revealed the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo – a fully electric, compact concept with exhilarating performance that can accelerate from 0-62mph in two seconds and reach a top speed of 199mph.

Embodying the essence of Vauxhall’s GSE performance sub-brand, the 800hp Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo demonstrates the possibilities of boundary-pushing design and engineering and gives a preview of upcoming GSE models.

Set for its world premiere at the upcoming IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich on September 8th, the concept car will also make its digital debut in Gran Turismo 7 this autumn where it has been created as a Vision Gran Turismo car so gamers can experience the electrifying vehicle for themselves on the racing simulator.

“The Vauxhall Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo takes the GSE sub-brand to the next level. It not only shows what is possible on a small car platform, it also displays a clear view to the future. Taking the iconic Corsa nameplate and combining it with GSE high-performance engineering results in a breathtaking concept that will deliver OMG! GSE moments. For the first time, everybody will be able to drive this stunning concept car for themselves in Gran Turismo 7,” said Steve Catlin, Managing Director, Vauxhall.

“We are delighted to welcome such an exciting and innovative take on the Corsa to Gran Turismo, which will be popular with GT players around the world. We love seeing Vision Gran Turismo cars brought to life as full-scale models and can’t wait for the reaction of fans when it is unveiled at the IAA Mobility 2025 on September 8th before it is displayed at the Gran Turismo World Series event in Berlin on September 20th,” said Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi.

Next-level performance

The Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo combines high efficiency with thrilling performance from a fully electric powertrain featuring dual 476hp (350kW) electric motors (one on each axle) delivering a combined 800hp and 800Nm of torque.

In combination with a single-speed transmission, the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo can accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.0 seconds and achieve a maximum speed of 199mph (320km/h), with its permanent all-wheel drive enhancing grip, handling, and overall vehicle stability. The inclusion of a boost function that delivers an additional 80hp for up to four seconds makes overtaking on the track even easier. Once fully depleted, the boost function can be fully recharged in four 20 second segments – and displayed on the steering wheel.

This performance is achieved using just an 82kWh battery, due to the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo weighing only 1,170kg thanks to the use of lightweight materials throughout.

Stunning technical design

The exhilarating performance of the Vauxhall Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo is matched by a muscular and powerful appearance. Demonstrating the versatility and flexibility that the forthcoming STLA Small platform enables in terms of design and proportions, the concept car has a similar footprint to the standard Corsa but with a lower and much wider stance. Its dimensions are 4.19m (L) x 1.87m (W) x 1.4m (H) with a 2.65m wheelbase.

While drawing on Vauxhall motorsport heritage, the concept car displays a new, more technical execution of the brand’s bold and pure design philosophy with sharp and precise body lines combined with technical and machined details.

At the front, the concept features a new, slim execution of the next generation Vauxhall Vizor. The illuminated Griffin emblem sits proudly at the centre of the signature Vauxhall Compass, the guiding element of the design which also acts as the car’s backbone. Signature lighting bars flank both sides of the emblem, extending horizontally towards futuristic, three-dimensional glass blocks. The vertical axis is now also illuminated around the Griffin and the centre crease extends from the front bumper into the aero-optimised bonnet.

This same design language continues at the rear with the distinctive Compass signature braking light created by edge-lighting technology combined with bold VAUXHALL lettering emblazoned across the back. The wide rear taillamp merges with the rear window for a bold and clean look.

Optimised aero solutions and attention to detail

To ensure that the Vauxhall Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo remains firmly planted on the road, it features optimised aerodynamic solutions. Aero skirts in front of the front and rear bumpers along with black aero wheelarch extensions offer smoother airflow to enhance the vehicle’s handling at high speeds. In addition, aerodynamic alloy wheels – inspired by three-spoke wheels on previous hot Vauxhalls – increase efficiency by reducing air turbulence in the wheelhouses while the substantial active aero diffuser and active aero spoiler help increase or decrease downforce depending on the driving situation.  Both extend to reduce drag on the straights – useful on such a short wheelbase car – and the rear spoiler also raises up to act as an airbrake.

Further highly engineered design to enhance aero-efficiency is delivered with the turn indicators concealed in the front and rear bumpers, sitting flush as slim edge lights. In addition, truncated triangular elements inspired by Vauxhall’s historic and iconic motorsport vehicles have been integrated in various components across the vehicle with the wheel structure, the roof spoiler and the roll cage all sporting this design.

The striking overall design is accentuated by a bold contrast of colours. The body is finished in pearl white, while aerodynamic elements such as the bonnet, spoiler, and diffuser feature a vivid yellow. The roof and front aero wheelarch extensions are finished in black, creating a sharp visual contrast. These black elements are made from Bcomp® – a very lightweight and strong material, made from flax, that has similar properties to carbon fibre but with a much lower environmental footprint.  This colour scheme extends to the wheels where the front Goodyear tyres are mounted on 21-inch black-and-yellow rims, while the rear tyres sit on 22-inch white-and-yellow rims – both featuring Bilstein pushrod suspension to ensure optimal road contact and improved handling.

Detoxed racing experience

Inside the cabin, drivers are presented with a clean, modern and minimalistic racing experience which also follows the signature Vauxhall Compass. The sleek steering wheel provides an unobstructed view of a single head-up display providing all the necessary information the driver needs.

A suspended, lightweight driver’s sport seat designed in black and bright yellow fabric comes with six-point seatbelts that fully integrate the driver in the driving experience, and together with the roll-cage ensures highest safety standards. Elsewhere, onboard sensors alert the driver via illuminated fabrics that cover the dashboard and door inserts to the presence of other vehicles, such as a vehicle entering the blind spot. This technique, referred to as ‘painting with light’ was first seen on a Vauxhall on the 2023 Experimental Concept.

The Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo draws on Vauxhall’s strong motorsport roots and combines this with the iconic Corsa nameplate while simultaneously giving an outlook on future generations of sporty GSE models. In short, it represents the epitome of Vauxhall’s highly dynamic GSE sub-brand and packages everything in an all-electric, high-performance small car.
