VAUXHALL ANNOUNCES NEW ASTRA AND ASTRA SPORTS TOURER FOR 2026

Vauxhall announces new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer, adding to the already renewed vehicle lineup of Mokka, Frontera, and Grandland. With a sharper and modernised design, the new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer will officially debut at the Brussels Motor Show from 9^th to 18^th January 2026.

Highlights of the new design include the Vauxhall Griffin at the front, which is illuminated for the first time on the Astra, the adaptive glare-free Intelli-Lux HD headlights, and the standard Intelli-Seats with ergonomic recess. The developers and designers have also remained true to Vauxhall’s ‘Greenovation’ approach, with more of the interior made from 100% recycled materials. Astra Electric comes with an extended range of up to 282 miles between charging stops (WLTP*).

Intelli-Lux HD lighting technology with over 50,000 elements

The innovative Intelli-Lux HD lighting first seen on Grandland is now available for Astra and Astra Sports Tourer for the first time. The adaptive, glare-free headlights have more than 50,000 elements and cut out preceding and oncoming road users even faster and more precisely than the previous matrix light technologies.

In bad weather or fog mode, Intelli-Lux HD also reacts to the possible glare effect caused by rain-soaked roads and adjusts the light intensity accordingly to reduce this effect for oncoming traffic. The lighting technology also detects traffic signs and dims the LEDs so that the reflection does not dazzle the driver.

Enhanced Vauxhall Vizor with illuminated Vauxhall Griffin

New Astra is inspired by the high-performance Vauxhall Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept car, making the design of the new Astra even sharper, more technical and recognisably modern. The characteristic face of the Vauxhall Vizor is now narrower and more precisely designed. The illuminated Vauxhall Griffin, which premiered on the Grandland SUV, now sits proudly at the centre. The central brand emblem also forms the starting point for the compass-inspired light strips that run horizontally into the headlights and vertically into the crease of the bonnet – a feature first seen on the 2023 Vauxhall Experimental Concept.   

The new designs for the 17-inch ‘Kaddett’ and 18-inch ‘Pentagon’ and ‘Rekord’ alloy wheels are just as eye-catching as the new metallic paint colours: Contour White and Clover Green. They underline the distinctive appearance in combination with the standard contrasting black roof.

Enhanced comfort with Intelli-Seats standard across the range

The upgraded design and exterior appearance of the new Astra is also reflected on the interior. Astra drivers and passengers can look forward to an even clearer cockpit as well as enhanced comfort. In every variant, the new Astra offers even more seating comfort than before. On the entry-level version, the Intelli-Seats, specially developed by Vauxhall and available for the first time on the Astra, come as standard. They are characterised by a recessed channel running up the middle of the front seat bases, which – inspired by the saddle design on road bicycles – reduces pressure on the tailbone (coccyx). The patented Intelli-Seat ergonomics feature ensures relaxed driving comfort even on long drives.

In addition, Astra customers can tailor their comfort onboard with multi-adjustable, AGR-certified seats for driver and front passenger with covers made of ReNewKnit™, including multi-stage seat heating, electro-pneumatic lumbar support, and massage and memory functions. The mono-material, with a high-quality suede appearance, is 100% recycled and, unlike composite materials, does not have to be laboriously separated, reducing the CO² footprint and helping to avoid waste.

Greenovation: Recycled fabrics and Astra Electric with a range of 282 miles (WLTP*)

In addition to the 100% recycled seat covers, numerous other resource-saving materials and surface structures are used on the new Astra interior. The cockpit and user interfaces of the infotainment system have also been made even clearer and more intuitive, in line with the latest models such as the Grandland.

Resource conservation was a key focus in the development of Vauxhall’s electric vehicle range. With a 58kWh gross battery capacity, the Astra Electric will enable a locally emissions-free range of up to 282 miles (WLTP*), allowing Astra Electric drivers to travel around 22 miles further than before between charging stops.

The new Astra Electric now offers Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for the first time, offering the ability to charge external devices such as e-bikes without having to rely on other power sources when on the go.

Depending on the version, up to 1,339 litres of luggage can fit into the rear compartment of the hatchback with the seats folded down. The Astra Sports Tourer offers a load volume of up to 1,634 litres. In addition, the rear seat backrest in the compact-class estate can be flexibly folded down in a 40:20:40 ratio.

Further information on the new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer will be announced around the world premiere in Brussels in early 2026.
